This week celebrate Teachers! Write your favorite childhood teacher a thank you note. Send in a gift to your child's teacher. Make a card for someone who you feel teaches you life skills in your day to day life. Teachers are so important to our lives and we should try to always appreciation all they do but for this week do a little something extra to show our Teachers how great they are!
This is what we made our preschool teachers. "Thanks for helping me Blossom!"

Earth Day 2013
April 22nd, 2013
Our Beautiful Earth is a great reason to celebrate. There are many ways we can celebrate this Earth Day. You can go Green for the week or the day. You can reduce, reuse, recycle in many ways. Upcycle an old outfit or item. Take a nature walk and pick up garbage. Make and display a poster at work, school, or your neightborhood to show support for Earth Day.
One thing I have decided to do this year is to go to the Earth Day 2013 webpage and submit a picture with a sign stating, "I am the Face of Climate Change!". I'm excited to be a part of this project and encourage us all to celebrate April 22nd in some way or another no matter how big or how small.
Make these Earth Day Bars and share them with co-workers.
Gather old clothes and household items and have a yardsale or donate the items.
Plant a tree or work in a garden
Make a recycled Milk Carton into a Bird Feeder

Shoes optional
April 16th, 2013 One Day With out Shoes Day!
I love going barefoot but give me a good cause to do it for and I'm all in. This is a day with global meaning. It is easy to take for granite simple pleasures such as shoes but for many in the world shoes are something they dream of owning. This day helps to raise awareness that not all have shoes and we can do something to help. If you cannot donate you can walk around with no shoes (Boss/school approval first of course) and that will raise questions and you can answer with ways people can help and why we should help.
Take the barefoot challenge, learn more, raise awareness and go barefoot on this day!

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a...cloud
April 14th Look up at the Sky day!
My little ones and I love to play the game where you name the shapes of the clouds. On warm days we will lay on the ground and just watch the clouds pass by. This is fun to my children and I must admit fun to me. The sky is beatutiful and can help pick us up when down, remember lost memories, and even, dream of new ones. On this day pause a moment and look up and celebrate the beautiful sky!
How to Celebrate:
For the kids:
Art projects can easlily be incorparated. Use cotton balls to create cloud art, or paing with white paint and sponges.
Read: Little Cloud by Eric Carle or visit your library for more books about the sky.
For us older folks:
Go for a walk and take time to appriciate the sky or talk someone who doesn't get out much for a walk and give them the chance to enjoy the sky.
Take picture of the sky!

Knock knock
Knock, Knock
Who is there?
Boo
Boo Who,
Don't cry this is the only bad joke I'll share!
April is National Humor month. Okay, humor is a reason my family will gladly celebrate. We love simple knock knock jokes, funny stories, and good humor in general. Send a co-worker a funny, but appropriate, story via email. Rent a comedy for your family movie night. Send a comical card to a friend you haven't seen in a while. Or call up that funny relative and have a laughter filled conversation. Laughter does a body good so fill your month of April with good humor and plenty of laughter.

Dig a little
April is National Garden Month. I love the idea of gardening and can't think of a better way to celebrate this month than to plant a little. I dream of one day having a home with a yard with a pretty little flower garden and a yummy little veggie garden. In the mean time I enjoy a few potted plants. Honestly I have no green thumb and struggle each spring with keeping my little seeds a live. This year we are planting as a family and hoping with a check list of reminders we can have a successful porch garden. If having a garden at home isn't your way to celebrate visit a local garden in your area. Give seeds to a teacher, friend, or co-worker. Pick up trash in the flower beds on one of your walks or take photos of a garden in your neighborhood.
If you are feeling extra crafty paint a flower pot and give it as a gift (Mother's Day is not too far away).

Music to my ears
April is National Guitar Month. I love the guitar, have tried to learn to play, own one but can play VERY little. My brother is amazing on the guitar. He can hear a little piece of music and pick up the guitar and play. Oh to have that talent!
Music is a very good reason to celebrate. Play it, listen to it, create it, how ever you can include music into your life. Here are some simple ways to celebrate national guitar month.
Use a tissue box, old shoe box, or other cardboard box and cut a hole in the top in the shape of an oval. Stretch some rubber bands around the box over the hole. Place a pencil or cut out from coardboard on one side. Then attach a "neck" with a ruler or empty paper towel tube. Then rock on.

Skip the broom
April 7th National No Housework Day!
Okay, this day needs little explanation a day deticated to not cleaning is a great day to me. I actually used to like cleaning in my BB days (Before Babies). In the "old" days I did not have so much to clean and house work was simple. Now, house work is a minute by minute chore. I can never clean faster than they can destroy. Anyway, I love the idea of a day deticated to not clearning. Sometimes we need a reminder that the things we feel are important may not be so much so in the grand scheme of things. On this day celebrate the simple things even if you have to step over the toys to do so.
Ways to celebrate this day:
Clean up for someone who may need a day off.
Spend the day outside so the "mess" wont summon you.
Sit back and relax and forget about the broom or work on a non-cleaning project you have been thinking about.
